2. Basic Principles
Your data is used solely to provide you with the most user-friendly, practical and secure internet service possible. Personal data includes all information about personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person, e.g. name, address, contact details, IP addresses, transferred data volumes, etc.
Data processing is carried out in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
On December 1, 2021, the Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) came into force. According to the legislator, it complements the GDPR. For this reason, we provide information on both legal bases.

a) Providing this website with products and services: initiation or fulfilment of contracts or support of projects in the form of donations. (in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR)
b) Inquiries by mail, e-mail or fax: contract initiation or fulfilment (pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR)
c) Links to other offers or evaluation of access: legitimate interest (pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR)
4. Automatic Processing Through Website Operation
The website is hosted by a provider in Germany who records access to the system in so-called server logs. The following information is typically collected IP addresses, access time stamps, names of web pages accessed, data volumes transferred, logouts, browser types, operating system information and referrer URLs. We do not store or analyze this information. In the event of justified suspicions of misuse based on specific information, these log files can be checked retrospectively.
In addition to the legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website and the defense against attacks in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR, § 25 Para. 2 TDDDG also applies with regard to browser data that is automatically transmitted when the website is used.
5. Security
We take appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data from accidental or unlawful deletion, alteration, loss or unauthorized disclosure or access.
6. Data Entry in Contact Form
The provision of your personal data is voluntary. To ensure that your request is processed securely and to avoid confusion, we require some information from you, which is marked with an asterisk. We ask for your address so that we can send you a welcome letter and a pin, as well as a donation receipt for your monetary donation to us. We require an email address to contact you regarding your donation/sponsoring membership. We guarantee that we will treat your data with absolute confidentiality and will not pass it on without your consent. You have the right to request information about, delete or object to the use of your personal data at any time.
By clicking the “Submit” button, you consent to the responsible party receiving, processing and using this information for this purpose. Your right to object remains at all times.
7. Data Entry in the Online Donation Form
The provision of your personal data is voluntary. For the secure processing of your donation and for secure allocation to you, we require some information from you, which is marked with an *. Without this information, your donation cannot be properly recorded. We guarantee that we will treat your data with absolute confidentiality and will not pass it on without your consent. You have the right to request information about, delete or object to the use of your personal data at any time.
8. Retention Period
We store your data for as long as the purpose of the storage remains (requests, projects, contracts, etc.). If the purpose no longer applies or you withdraw your consent, your data will be deleted by the regular deletion run, provided that no legal retention periods have to be observed.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to access, delete or object to the processing of your personal data at any time. You may exercise your right of objection at any time without giving reasons and may change or revoke your consent with effect for the future. 10. Disclosure to Third Parties
With the exception of the online donation form, we do not share your personal information with third parties. In particular, we do not trade addresses or data. Your information will only be processed by us or by trusted service providers who provide IT services to us.
11. Children
We do not knowingly collect or process information from children. If a student submits an inquiry, we will only store the information if we receive explicit consent from the student's legal guardian. If we do collect information from children, we will only disclose it to the extent required by law. The term "children" is defined in accordance with national law and applicable regulations.
12. Links
We are not responsible for the links we provide to the websites of other companies or individuals. Please note that the privacy policies of those websites will govern the use of your personal information.
13. Profiling
Your data will not be used for automated decision making or profiling.
14. Customer Information via Email
As part of our customer retention efforts, we occasionally send out updates to our customers to inform them of updates and changes to our offerings. These messages should not be confused with general newsletters. If it is related to our offerings and includes security issues or important information from our organization, we may only send it by email. Thank you for your understanding.
15. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to provide you with an efficient and user-friendly experience. This is a legitimate interest in the use of this technology. Most browsers allow you to view cookies. If cookies are used that track user behavior, personal data is usually processed that is subject to both the GDPR and the TDDDG. Therefore, § 25 (1) TDDDG also applies here in relation to the GDPR.
16. MATOMO
We use the following analysis tool for the evaluation of our websites and describe this to you as follows: Matomo (formerly PIWIK).
This website uses Matomo, which uses cookies for the user. This service is hosted on our own web server in Germany. The IP address is automatically stored in a shortened form and transmitted to the server with the other information stored for the evaluation.
The IP address is automatically truncated and stored, and the other information is transmitted to the server for the evaluation. The data collected by the cookies are not passed on to third parties. You can prevent the use of cookies by adjusting your browser settings; however, this may result in restrictions in the operation of the website. The legal basis for analysing user behaviour on our website is legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. Browser data or header information automatically collected and transmitted through browser settings fall under § 25 (2) TTDSG.
17. Fundraisingbox
We use the Fundraisingbox service (Wikando GmbH, Augsburg) for your donations, which acts as a processor for us. If you donate online, your data will be collected and made available in our account. Further information about security and data protection can be obtained directly from Fundraisingbox (https://www.fundraisingbox.com/datensicherheit/ ). The data is used exclusively for donation management (recording, allocation, donation receipts). Your data will be deleted if the purpose of the processing no longer applies or if there are no legal retention periods that require it. In principle, we have to store this data for donations for 10 years. Depending on your selection, Fundraisingbox offers various payment methods. Different data is recorded depending on the method:
- SEPA data via our house bank (we receive your SEPA data)
- PayPal: via PayPal S.a.r.l. & Cie. SCA, 22-24 Boulevard Royal, Luxembourg (we do not receive any access or account data). The PayPal privacy policy is available at: www.paypal.com/de/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full
- Credit Card: via your credit card provider (we do not store credit card details)
18. Changes
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Therefore, we encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Matomo
Our website uses Matomo, a so-called web analysis service. Matomo uses so-called “cookies”, which are text files that are stored on your computer and enable us to analyze the use of the website.
