Aid project Albania

Language courses, medical care and leisure activities

The SOS Children’s Village is located in Sauk, a village near the Albanian capital of Tirana. The main focus here lies on psychosocial and educational support to improve the children’s living situation, because pronounced poverty continues to provoke a lack of education and limited health care.

Stable, safe and loving care in a familial environment is the foundation of every SOS Children’s Village. We promote a wide range of different activities that are specially tailored to the children’s needs. This, for instance, includes speech therapy for children suffering from autism. We also support language courses, help with paying preschool fees and finance medical care specifically for malnourished children. Leisure activities throughout the summer months and little excursions are also made possible thanks to the LR Global Kids Fund e. V.

About the project

Local circumstances

Tirana is the capital of Albania. It is home to 420,000 people. Even though the living conditions for Albanian children have significantly improved in recent years, youths in this country still face a multitude of problems. Extreme poverty is widespread, particularly in rural areas, and people are only slowly beginning to assert their right to an education. Many families are struggling to get the health care they need, and they often have to rely on external aid.
