Care and support through play and education
The LR Global Kids Fund e.V. is driven by an overwhelming desire to improve the lives of children and teenagers who confront enormous challenges within their own homes from an early age. Due to a lack of parental support, these young souls face learning issues, academic challenges, and a lack of social skills. In the heart of Germany, we are focusing on a local project, the RTL "Lunch Club" in Ahlen. This is where the magic takes place. It's a place where disadvantaged children are lavished with attention, compassion, and opportunity, not just a nutritious meal. It's a place where homework help is more than just assignments; it's about laying the groundwork for a brighter future. It's a place where creativity, play, and education coexist to help these young minds reach their greatest potential. The true magic, however, resides in the dramatic transformations we see every day. It's the sparkle in their eyes as they overcome new challenges, the joy that fills the air as they greet newfound friends, and the hope that begins to sprout within their hearts. Personal development and creative leisure activities
In 2018, the Lunch Club was turned into an RTL-Kinderhaus, which allowed it to expand its offer and extend its opening hours and ensured the long-term support of the children. Thanks to the cooperation with the charity “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e. V.”, the institution can now support disadvantaged children on five instead of previously three days per week. Here, the children receive a healthy meal and loving care, can take part in the learning club and engage in creative leisure activities.
Adventure-oriented educational expeditions – e.g. a trip to the open-air theatre, museums or a canoe tour – give the children the chance to take part in cultural and social life. This programme of activities is only made possible by the voluntary work of the local LR Health & Beauty employees, who organise or supervise trips and events as part of the Corporate Volunteering programme “LR hands on”.
Local circumstances
Once a year, RTL changes its regular TV programme for 24 hours and collects donations for children in need. Every hour, a live update is broadcast from the donations studio: the hosts appeal for donations, celebrities man the donations call centre and sponsors share their moving stories of visiting the aid projects. In addition, unique VIP treasures are auctioned off as part of the big charity auction. The LR Global Kids Fund e. V. is part of events and shows its commitment by officially handing over its donations cheque. This way, the charity gets great media coverage, which in turn draws more attention to its aid projects.

Local circumstances
The LR Global Kids Fund e. V. has been part of the RTL Donation Marathon since 2016. The RTL Donation Marathon is an annual highlight and the most important fund-raising campaign of the charity “RTL – Wir helfen Kindern”.
Unfortunately, child poverty is also an issue in wealthy industrial nations such as Germany. Right on our own doorstep, 21 % of children – every fifth child – grow up in poverty. Often, they remain destitute throughout their lives or keep slipping back into financial hardship.
For the children, this tends to mean limited basic care and a lack of options for participating in social activities. In Ahlen alone, the home of the LR Global Kids Fund e. V., 2,200 children and youths are in some way affected by poverty.
