World Food Day 2025 – Together Against Hunger

On 16 October, World Food Day is observed globally – a day that serves as a reminder that food is a human right. Yet, according to UN estimates, over 800 million people still suffer from hunger. Children are particularly affected.

World Food Day was established in 1979 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the organisation’s founding day. Since then, this day has been used to highlight global inequalities in access to food and to strengthen the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

Though the challenge may seem immense, change often starts small: through awareness, education, and support. To help children grow up healthy, we must start with the basics – and alongside education, reliable nutrition is essential.

As a children’s aid organisation, we are committed to ensuring that children in the most disadvantaged regions have the chance to grow up healthy – with sufficient food, medical care, and education.
