In January 2018 LR Global Kids Fund has launched its first aid project in Turkey. Across the German organization GPP (Global Project Partners e.V.), the LR Global Kids Fund is supporting two Child Care Centers from KEDV in Istanbul (Kağıthane) and Biga (Çanakkale). This aid will help to improve the quality of life of prospectively 250 children.
Kadın Emeğini Değerlendirme Vakfı (KEDV) or Foundation for the Support of Women’s Work (FSWW), established in 1986, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Their concept is community based. On a local level they are working with grassroots women’s groups all over Turkey.
This way KEDV has developed an alternative method to expand early child care and education services. Grassroots women’s groups undertake the leadership of those Cooperatives and Child Care Centers. The educational approach behind this concept is bringing children, families, educators and the community together. Those women cooperatively manage parent-run Child Care Centers, Play Groups and a Neighborhood Mothers program.
