International Day for the Eradication of Poverty – Look. Understand. Act.
On 17 October 2025, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty reminds us that poverty is not an abstract issue – it is a harsh reality for millions of people worldwide. For many, it means a daily struggle for survival: no clean drinking water, no healthcare, no education, no prospects.
This day of action was established by the United Nations in 1992. Its aim is to raise awareness of poverty in all its forms and to promote collective efforts for a world where no one is left behind.
Poverty has particularly profound consequences for children. Those who grow up in poverty face significantly reduced chances of good health, education, and a self-determined life. This makes early intervention all the more critical – through targeted support, sustainable projects, and a steadfast commitment to change.
As a children’s aid organisation, we are dedicated to this cause: supporting children affected by poverty and working towards a future where every child is seen, protected, and empowered.
Help tackle poverty where it causes the most harm – become a sponsoring member and give children a chance for a better life.
