15th July 2025: World Youth Skills Day

Creating Opportunities, Opening Perspectives

How can young people be empowered to have a self-determined future? This question is at the heart of World Youth Skills Day, observed every year on 15th July. This international action day was initiated by Sri Lanka in 2014 and officially proclaimed by the United Nations.

Especially in developing countries, young people often face significant challenges: high unemployment, a lack of training opportunities, or insufficient chances to develop their own potential. World Youth Skills Day draws attention to exactly these issues – and highlights the importance of providing young people with access to education, training, and practical knowledge.

The United Nations calls on everyone worldwide to use this day as an opportunity to showcase ways to strengthen young people's skills through educational projects, volunteer work, campaigns, and awareness-raising. After all, those who are informed can make conscious decisions – about their own future and their own path.

This day is also important for our work at LRGKF. We believe in the power of education and the necessity of giving young people the tools to shape their own lives.
