Balance in 2018: Half a million euros for aid projects

For the second time in a row, the LR Global Kids Fund e.V. received donations of more than half a million euros within one year. The money was used to support three German and 19 international children’s aid projects. “We are very pleased with this positive result and are optimistic that we will be able to continue the success of 2018 this year. Thanks to the intensive cooperation with our partners, we have succeeded in pushing our activities even further on both a national and an international level,” said Andreas Friesch, Chairman of the Board of LR Global Kids Fund e.V. Besides private individuals, LR Health & Beauty is one of the largest financial sponsors of the association. Every year, the Ahlen-based direct sales company initiates various donation campaigns and activities leading to donations going to the LR Global Kids Fund e.V.

National commitment:
Expansion of cooperation with “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V.”

The association reached important milestones especially with regard to German aid projects. 200,000 euros went to the foundation “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V.” (RTL Foundation – We help children) last year, which currently operates in 18 RTL children’s homes in which young people receive a balanced meal and homework help as well as free access to creative games and educational opportunities. The appointment of the Ahlen Lunch Club as the RTL Children’s House in August was a particular source of joy. This contact point for disadvantaged children and young people has been supported by the LR Global Kids Fund e.V. since its foundation about seven years ago. “The Lunch Club is a real matter of the heart for us. We feel closely connected to the facility and are
delighted that the group of the approximately 50 children and young people, who regularly attend the Lunch Club three days a week after school is now secured in the long term,” explains Friesch. Starting in May 2019, the doors will be open for the children five days a week. Apart from the Lunch Club, the LR Global Kids Fund e.V. also supported the RTL children’s homes in Leipzig and Stuttgart.

Fruitful partnership with SOS Children’s Villages worldwide
A lot has also happened from a global perspective over the past year:

A large part of the international subsidies amounting to 330,000 euros went to eleven facilities of SOS Children’s Villages worldwide. Since 2017, the aid organisation has been an important partner of the LR Global Kids Fund e.V. Thanks to the support of the Ahlen association, learning opportunities, workshops as well as educational and psychological aid measures are financed. For Friesch, the joint work is a big step in the right direction: “With SOS Children’s Villages worldwide at our side, we have succeeded in bundling and professionalising our international commitment. At the same time, we can be sure that the money arrives exactly where it is needed most.” In addition to the SOS Children’s Villages, other international projects, some of which have been supported by the LR Global Kids Fund for years, also received financial support. In this way, the following activities – among many others – could be implemented: Sports camps for children suffering from cystic fibrosis (France), a mentoring programme for young people who can no longer live with their parents (Austria) and educational and leisure activities for disadvantaged children (Poland).
