Life can change in a flash – just like it did for the Schlattmann family in 1990 when their son Simon was diagnosed with bone cancer. Out of gratitude for the medical care in Münster and the experience of how stressful this situation is for relatives, a vision emerged: a temporary home for families of seriously ill children – affordable and right near the clinic.
In 1996, the Familienhaus am Universitätsklinikum Münster opened its doors. Today, it offers closeness, support, and a bit of normality in difficult times in almost 50 rooms.
Founded out of personal commitment and driven by compassion, it remains a place of hope and togetherness to this day.
